The Story Begins
When I was still dating Heidi she said something to me about children that she was unsure about how I would receive it. She explained her love and heart for children that you all know about, but then she told me: "You know when I think about it, if I am going to be ministering and raising children when I start a family, I've always thought why not bring lots of children under our roof... I'm not really thinking of lots of my own children per se, just that why not try to make an impact on the many children that are in need?" She looked at me to sense if there was any surprise or bewilderment in my reaction. I don't really remember what I said at that stage, but the gist of it was a smile and shrug: okay... why not.
Here were are. Married. Two kids. And beginning the process of international adoption. Of course this decision was not made simply by asking the question why not. But it kind of started there. And after much prayer this summer we felt like this was the time God had for us.

India. Another soft place in our heart that makes lots of emotions stir. Have you seen the movie Lion (2016)? Besides being a good movie, it is the true story of a child being adopted from the streets of India. It is a child's story of healing and reconciliation. Heidi spent 10 years working on the streets of India striving to bring life and healing to Indian children –many of whom lived on the streets themselves. Our adoption story is just beginning, but it started to germinate in our hearts long before this summer. Will you join with us to pray for this journey? Will you take a moment to pray for our child? If we receive our child within the standard age parameters we're praying about, it means our child is already alive and discovering a big world around them! Can you pray for protection and nurture whether he or she's with her mother, or aunt, or in an orphanage?
